Atkinson's Martial Arts proudly serving Peoria since 2007

Hanshi John Atkinson founded Atkinsons Martial Arts in 2007. Before opening a dojo in Peoria Arizona he had opened several dojos and health clubs across Canada. After 17 years of operating Atkinsons Martial Arts John Atkinson has handed the dojo to his first student, Sensei Andrew Gunn.

For almost 2 decades of training, Sensei Gunn has progressed from a student to Chief Instructor of Atkinson’s Martial Arts. Sensei Gunn began training in the mid-2000s and is currently a fourth Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate (Black Belt Institute International) and a Black Sash in Chuan-Fa (Shaolin Kung-Fu from the International Karate and Kung Fu Association) Under Hanshi John Atkinson. Sensei Gunn continues to train with World Jiu Jitsu federation. Sensei Gunn is currently Vice President of Black Belt Institute International. In 2019 Sensei Gunn was awarded Instructor of the year by the Canadian Karate and Kung Fu Association.

Sensei Gunn has also trained with some legends in the martial arts world including Sensei Chuck Merriman Sensei Vince Morris, Sensei Alex Atkinson, Muzzamal Nawaz (World Kickboxing Champion) and Grand Master Chang Feeding Crane Kung Fu.

In 2012 Sensei Gunn represented USA at the WKO World Championship. Successfully winning a gold medal in sparring and a bronze medal in weapons kata.

He loves to teach – whether instructing a students first class, to energizing a beginner group of kids, or taking advanced adult students through their paces.
